Soraya Pérez
Was born in La Guaira-Venezuela. Choreographer-performer, martial arts artits (short martial arts biografie),Reiki Practitioner-Instructor, teacher of contemporary dance,
AikiFlow (Aikido-Danza-Yoga)and Aikido.
Work experiences as teacher:
Since 2000 She carries on her artistic research using the different techniques that she's learned creating Flowing Contact, (Aikido.Contact-Danza) a new way to understands the dance and the martial arts.
2014 Start to collaborate with Artichoke Dance Project with the "martial" training for dancers teaching her own tecniche named Flowing Contact (Aikido-contact:Dance)
Teaches Flowing Contact, Contemporary dance and Yogadance in Milan and neightbourhoods.

She created, with Edy Quaggio, a new short version of “El cuarto” (the room), that premiered at the Pim-Off in Milan.
“Caleidoscopio” solo dance, duration 15', choreography and dance S. Pérez, directed by E. Quaggio with artistic collaboration of Cornelia Volk (videomaker). Premiered at the Teatro Officina in Milan.
Worked with the theatre company “Anima Nera” as dance teacher collaborating at the scene movements for the piece “Orfunny” by A. Cassano.

“Fluttuazioni”, dance-solo, duration 30', choreography and dance S. Pérez, directed by Edy Quaggio, premiered in “Approdi” Villa5 in Torino (IT).
After a long artistic collaboration, Soraya Perez founded, along with Edy Quaggio, the “Compagnia dei Transiti” in Milan creating many piece of dance -theatre.

She’s also been the choreographer of theatrical performances as: “Minotauro” (freely inspired by the text by F.Dürrenmatt) and “Clausura” written by Edy Quaggio, director: Francesco Mazza for Argómm Teatro and “Il sogno di un uomo ridicolo” written by F. Dostoevskij, director: Alberto Munch.

Education and training:
Started her own artistic education and approach to movement when 14 years old, studying a chinese martial art Wu Shu Shaolin and Jazz Dance in La Guaira (Venezuela).
1981-'84
She attended the Faculty of Philosophy at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, where she also studied dance working with the university's dance group (Pisorrojo) directed by Grishka Holguin.

Took part, and studied ballet-jazz in Cynthia Penn's company-school “Jazz en Accion”
'83-’86
She completed her training of Classical Ballet and Contemporary dance (Graham and Limòn technique) at The High Institute of Dance in Caracas.

Joined to the dance group “Coreoarte “ directing by Carlos Orta. and took part of “Accion Colectiva' Company” project.

Studied and worked with the Latin American Contemporary Dance Center “Danzahoy” directed by Adriana Urdaneta, dancing in ”Adios” by A. Urdaneta.

Studies the Martial Art Technique of Aikido. applying its basic concepts into the contemporary dance.
